Even in the run-up to the 10th ICCX Central Europe, it was foreseeable that this anniversary event would be a very special one. With 120 booths, the trade exhibition accompanying the conference was not only fully booked, but also represented the first record of the event - never had there been so many exhibitors at the ICCX Central Europe. When registration opened on the morning of 28 February, the first of two event days, at the event hotel Double Tree by Hilton Hotel & Conference in Warsaw, the long queue of people at the entrance already gave an idea that all previous year's results would be exceeded here as well. The CPi team as the organizer was able to welcome a total of 830 participants from 320 different companies and 29 countries in Warsaw for ICCX Central Europe 2024, with the number of represented countries forming the third record.
In its 10th edition, ICCX Central Europe was once again able to fully confirm its status as the annual meeting place for the Central European concrete industry. As a cross-border established event, the congress attracts concrete experts from both Poland and neighbouring countries. Once again, an exciting and highly interesting mix of technical conference and international trade exhibition awaited the conference participants.
The two-day conference program was divided into four blocks, so that on each day, different topics were covered in the respective morning and afternoon session. As always, the conference languages were English and Polish. All presentations were simultaneously translated, and the presentation was shown analogue in an English and a Polish version on two large screens.
Already with the first presentation in the opening session, the auditorium was filled to the last seat. This didn’t come as a surprise, considering that exciting topics such as the economic situation of the entire Central European concrete industry and energy-saving potentials in concrete plants were on the agenda. Other topics included the use of BIM using the example of bridge construction as well as the standardization of chemical admixtures. In the second session, the focus was on building materials and innovations, including 3D concrete printing, calcined clays and cement-free concrete paving blocks.
On the second day, the spotlight was on precast concrete elements, a topic that was covered in four presentations. Precast concrete elements made of lightweight concrete, tracking of precast concrete elements from production to the construction site, low-carbon concrete for precast elements, as well as the introduction of a very successful Polish precast concrete plant inspired the delegates in the auditorium.
In the fourth and final session of ICCX Central Europe 2024, concrete products were discussed. Trends and developments in concrete block machines, the optimization of the life expectancy of underlay boards, the influence of chemical admixtures on the frost resistance of the structural layer of two-layer concrete products, as well as normative requirements for the concrete production workforce and laboratory operations were among the topics discussed.
