Second ICCX North Africa records growing interest
The ICCX North Africa 2023, held in Casablanca on 14 and 15 September, proved to be a great success despite the earthquake in the Marrakech region a week earlier, attracting around 350 participants from the concrete and construction industry - almost 15% more than the first year. The event once again provided a platform for knowledge transfer, networking and the exchange of best practices. Numerous international suppliers to the industry presented their innovative solutions and products to interested trade visitors.
An interesting selection of nationally and internationally recognised experts included Prof. Mohammed Sonebi from Queen's University Belfast who, with his expertise and inspiring presentation on bio-based concrete compositions, highlighted an opportunity for the concrete industry in North Africa and captivated the audience. The very descriptive presentation by Adil Dahmani, project manager at UMGC, one of the largest construction companies in Morocco, also fascinated the audience. He presented the first large-scale construction project in Morocco to be made almost entirely of precast concrete elements, with two more of this kind to follow in the near future.
Other presentations that were followed with great interest were given by Dr Kais Mehiri, research group leader of CERIB in France on a novel diagnostic tool for concrete block production and by Alberto Arena, chairman of Carsey3D, Chapsol and Sotubema, France, who presented promising applications for 3D concrete printing technology from a manufacturer's point of view. Participants praised the quality of the presentations and discussions offered during the ICCX North Africa 2023. These covered a wide range of topics, including innovative technologies in the concrete industry, sustainability and environmental aspects in construction, and trends and developments in the industry. The participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and colleagues, make new contacts and deepen their knowledge. Some visitor statements are included throughout this report. The event's trade exhibition offered visitors the opportunity to explore the latest products, services and technologies in the precast concrete and construction industry. Numerous exhibitors presented innovative solutions and products that aroused the interest of the trade visitors.
Another highlight of the ICCX North Africa 2023 was the networking event, where participants could make and deepen contacts in an informal atmosphere. Overall, the ICCX North Africa 2023 was a great success and provided participants with valuable insights, inspiration and opportunities for professional development and networking. The positive feedback from participants testifies to the quality and relevance of this event for the concrete and construction industry in Morocco and throughout North Africa. The organisers would like to thank all visitors, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and partners for their contribution to this successful event and are already looking forward to next year's ICCX North Africa. The ICCX team would like to extend a very special thank you to the entire team of the precast association AMIB - Association Marocaine de l'Industrie du Béton, especially its President Amine Maächi-Haddou, who has made the ICCX North Africa his heart's work over the past two years.
